Akakū provides professional services to help Maui County governments, non-profits,and residents produce non-commercial content to air on Akakū’s cable television channels and online at www.akaku.org.  There are several ways Maui County residents, nonprofits, or government agencies can get their non-commercial messages on the air, but Akakū's “Hot Set / Open Mic” is the easiest and least expensive way to make your voice heard:

• Its Quick! Hot Set provides 15 minutes of recording time, on set in the Michael Clark Studio.
• Its Free! There is absolutely no cost to record you a “Hot Set” Public Service Announcement or "Open Mic" statement, or for Akaku to air it. (If you want a copy of the raw footage, it only costs $5; and a broadcast copy is $25.)
• You don’t need production experience! Just schedule an appointment, at least 24 hours in advance. Bring in your smiling face, a jump drive with your PSA/statement on it and we'll put it in our teleprompter, so you can read like a pro!

Your 15-minutes of fame awaits you! Schedule an appointment with Akakū Productions by calling 873-3432 to book a 15-minute “Hot Set” time slot, Monday-Friday, from 1-3 pm. During your timeslot, you can record your Public Service Announcement (PSA) or use the Akakū “Open Mic”, available for individuals to share their opinion, rant about a concern, or display your unique talent.

Akakū's Michael Clark Studio is a 3 camera studio with a full lighting grid with dimmers, digital video mixer, 24 channel audio mixer, intercom system, graphics computer, teleprompter, DVCam recording, DVD recording, and live call-in phone line. The studio is used for live and taped productions.  The studio is available free of charge to community producers who are Akakū studio certified through the Intro to Studio class. The studio is scheduled through the facilities co-ordinator. Application for "live" series programs are available through the programming department.
